Join our group of 16 to 30 people as we travel with experts to Kyoto, the ancient city of Nara, and Tokyo during cherry blossom season!
We will have introductions to experiences that are at the heart of Japanese culture and only possible for our Hakone group. There will be a private reception with a Japanese cultural minister; tours of Kyoto gardens at the height of springtime beauty with Hakone’s master gardener; a traditional tea ceremony with beautifully ornate dress; guided tours of famous temples, museums, and markets. We will enjoy watching Kabuki and hearing a koto concert; experience a kaiseki, the traditional multi-course dinner that elevates cooking to an art form; and much more!
Our home base in Kyoto will be Hotel Mume, a historic, small, luxury hotel along the peaceful Shirkawa river. In Tokyo, we are staying at the Shinjuku Prince Hotel and will be perfectly located for touring.
As Hakone travel alumni, we will regroup after our return at a private reception and dinner at Hakone, the oldest Asian estate and gardens in the Western Hemisphere in Saratoga, California. On this occasion, we can reminisce and start to develop plans for our next Hakone cultural travel experience in China or India.
